CF Anderson launches new surface material
FSC-certified material offers an alternative worktop solution.
We may just have to rethink the old "scissors-paper-rock" game if Richlite's surface solutions take off in the UK, writes Grahame Morrison, as while the material's base is paper, the finished product has a rock-like hardness and is certainly tough enough to blunt scissors.
Richlite, a paper composite-based surface material with an impressive track-record in excess of 65 years is now available in the UK. Richlite is so durable, it is apparently the material of choice in USA skate parks and is even used as a replacement for marine ply.
It is being distributed in Britain by CF Anderson, and while its head office may not be too far from the Essex coastline, CF Anderson see a myriad of opportunites for the material outside of the marine market and in the work surface and interior design sectors.
USA-based Richlite has been manufacturing the FSC-certified material since 1943 and the material has been used extensively in commercial kitchens for a number of years and it is frequently specified for commercial reception areas as well as kitchen and bathroom surfaces.
The Richlite Cascade collection comes in six colour schemes, three thicknesses, and two-to-three tone edges. It fabricates in a similar way to wood, with traditional woodworking tools being used, while the surface is durable and resistant to heat and stains.
